Closed-circuit television (CCTV), often known as video surveillance, is a method of transmitting a signal to a specific location via video cameras and displaying it on a limited number of monitors. It is distinguished from broadcast television by the fact that the signal is not transmitted openly, although it may utilize point-to-point (P2P), point to multipoint (P2MP), or mesh wired or wireless lines. Though practically all video cameras meet this criterion, CCTV is most frequently used to refer to those used for surveillance & monitoring. CCTVs are used in places such as banks, stores, and other locations that require security.
